robertaMy son that is three years old now and has CAH classical salt wasting type... at the age of 13 months or so, fell on the playground equipment and hurt his mouth. Then a couple days later, I was feeding him and notice that his front tooth was cracked. I was so scared. I took him to a ped dentist and told him about CAH. The dentist seemed to be overwhelmed by the fact that I said that he could die from adrenal shock and then referred me a oral surgery dentist. The good thing is that the tooth was not as bad as first thought and the root was not damaged. He did not need it removed. Which would have requried hospitalization for the cortef (before the surgery and after by IV and until he would take it orally again). 100 mg by IV for the stress for the surgery and being put to sleep.
For a filling and local numbing... I have been told there is no need for the injection or even increasing the cortef. Which is scary for me!! Hopefully there would be no pain and no stressc. he I pray!! But with chipped tooth (there must have been some pain and stress) but I gave no extra cortef and he was okay. Luckily there was no fever or infection with the broken lip.
