Re: Adrenal crisis - triggers, & how fast does it get serious? & to ANNE (long)

I agree completely with Anne. Our son died in much the same time frame, and "waiting until morning" was the final straw. Such hard lessons to learn, but we definately are more reactive now, with our 4 yr old SW daughter. I say: Give the shot first, ask questions later. So what if you appear to be over-reacting, or if it turns out that the shot wasn't necessary?? The shot will not harm your child if not needed, and at least you will still have that little precious one with you. Anne's comments on the effects of vomitting and/or diarrhea on the body are noteworthy: the stomach can indeed "shut down" in times of illness. Never assume that the child's double or triple dose is actually being absorbed as it should be; watch that child like a hawk - and give the shot immediately & head for the ER at the least little sign of crisis. To Anne: I would be interested in any other tidbits of advice that the "brilliant" endo that you saw, had to offer! Thanks.
