Re: My son is having surgery and I am scared to death

As long as the surgery team has consulted with the hospital endo there will not be a problem with the CAH side of things. The endo should have some supervision of the tapering of the hydrocortisone dose back to normal levels before he leaves hospital.  The most worry thing is the ansthesia because we all react differently.  Liam had two major cranial operations before his first birthday and it is not easy.  The operations were very long 5+ hours but the hospital had theater tickets and movie tickets available to parents to use.  These did help pass the time because you are completely helpless and waiting is not fun.  I also see no reason why there would be a strict policy limiting one parent being with a child when putting them to sleep.  Both my wife and myself went down to theater with Liam.

Unfortunetly being scared will not go away but try to do something other than waiting around because your brain is not a friendly instruement under these circumstances.  You will get through it and Caleb will surprise you with his strength. TC
