My daughter had to be anesthetised when she was 24 months old, in order to do an MRI; it was kind of scary, but our endo did arrange for her to have a shot of solu-cortef beforehand. Although it was not exactly as invasive as surgery, I can understand your fear. We feel so vulnerable as parents of "sick" children (oh, I hate that phrase!).
