We are feeling the shock and horror here in Canada, too, and my heart go out to everyone that is affected by this horrible series of events. This morning, I ran downstairs to put some laundry in the dryer (a minute or two??), and when I came back, my 4 yr old daughter - who had been watching cartoons when I left her - had the TV remote and was sitting in front of TV coverage from NY. She asked me, "What is a terrorist, Mommy?", and my heart sank. No four yr. old should have to learn what a terrorist is; it makes me grieve for the millions of children worldwide who know nothing but war their whole lives. We, in North America, have such a wonderful standard of living and so may opportunites, with everything that we need (and much more), yet we grumble about the stupidest things. I think that perhaps we have been fooling ourselves to think that we are completely "safe" here - that no one would dare to do something like this to us. What a wake-up call; nothing will be the same again. At this point, we can choose to let it terrify us and rule the way we live our very day to day lives, or we can learn from it, deal with it, and get on with life. God is our refuge and strength; that's where I'm putting my trust. May He be with you all.
