Mike, Congratulations on the birth of your son and welcome to the board. It is my understanding that most kids are treated with Cortef (every 8 hours). I do know of a small boy (almost 12 months now) that is being treated with liquid prednisone because they weren't able to get him controlled with the Cortef. My understanding of this situation is that this was partially due to the smallest Cortef pill being 5 mg and therefore the smallest dosage was 2.5 mg (though there are some folks who are able to 1/4 the pills). The prednisone is much stronger than Cortef, and therefor much less is given, and it is usually given every 12 hours. Someone else on the board should be able to explain why it isn't the common treatement until growth is complete. Just for your information, the Cortef tablets can easily be crushed and disolved in water/formula/juice. My daughter has been taking her morning and afternoon doses by mouth since she was about 20 months of age. For the 10 pm dose I crush the tablet, mix with juice in a medicine syringe and give it to her -- she doesn't wake up. Again Welcome!JanetD
