About the IM Solu-Cortef injections: I have always been told to give it to my son (since he was a baby and is now 9 yrs. old) in his thigh. They told me to make an imaginary line down the center of his thigh and then to divide that outer half into 3 equal portions, then to give the injection in the outer portion of the inner third while pinching together a fat pad to inject into.(Sounds confusing, but when followed it makes perfect sense!). They also told me not to even bother to pull back plunger to check for blood because even if it went into the bloodstream instead of the muscle that it would be ok! Now after reading Julies post I am a nervous wreck to think I could hurt him by not checking and that it is not ok to get it into the bloodstream. Everybody please post your thoughts so that we can throw this around and then check with our doctors for clarification. How have others been advised to give this injection and pointers please. I have given my son 3 injections during his 9 years and thought I did just fine. I encountered no problems and saw a difference in him in a matter of minutes after being injected wherever it was that the medicine was delivered, and obviously without any damage. But I am concerned so please I would appreciate other posts. Thank you so much for your info Julie. This is why I love this board - it keeps you on your toes!Valerie
