ChrisHi. I was hoping that someone would be able to explain some things for me. I have been under the impression for the last twenty years that I am a carrier of CAH. I was diagnosed after brother was born with Salt Wasting CAH. I had special medical care as a child because I was told that stress would be a problem for me. After attending a support group recently, I have found that CAH carriers are not supposed to have symptoms so I asked for more information on my condition from a consultant.
I have now been retested, and although not all of the results are back, those that have been recieved are normal. I was told that this means I am not a carrier of CAH. The consultant then pulled my records from childhood, and on those it says that I have CAH. There is no mention of how I was tested or of the results. It seems that as I did not show the same symptoms as my brother, that they assumed I was a carrier.
The consultant says that you can grow out of CAH, and it is possible that this is what has happened to me. I have never heard of this before, and would like to know if this is common. After everything I have heard about CAH, I really didn't think that this was possible. Please can you let me know if you have heard of this happening.
Thanks,
Chris
