Hi everyone - I was still going to the temp. site and was wondering why no one was making any posts. Now I see why! Our doctors very rarely send my son for bloodwork unless they are searching deeper for something in particular. We generally do 24 hr. urine collections every 3 months. My question is: How has anyone who does these regularly been instructed in how to do this correctly? We have been told to ignore the 1st urine of the day and then to proceed including the 1 st urine of the following morning and stopping, regardless if it is or is not actually 24 hrs.? Is that the consensus? ( I am doing my sons collection today for his appointment tomorrow. I generally would have done this on Sunday and kept it refrigerated until Wednesday, however would you believe I forgot to do it. Thats a 1st for me! Anyway, doing it today and will have to run to the school a couple of times.) I think this is an easier question to answer if your child generally goes right before bedtime and usually doesn't go again until they get up the next morning. My son, on the other hand, can be up several times a night. So figuring out when to stop the following morning is my question. And for that matter when to start the first day. If he went at 3:55 am like he did today. is that considered the 1st one or when he rose at 6:30am and went back to bed or when he went again at 7:45 and got up for the day? Am I making any sense? Obviously, I plan on qestioning the doctos about this tomorrow but was just wondering what everyone else does. I do apolgize for my long posts, I do have a tendancy to ramble on. At least on the computer :) Thanks in advance!Valerie
