Kaye I would ask you to reconsider. My 18 yr. old daughter was very virilized at birth,like yours.Here in N. Ireland,we have a few very experienced plastic surgeons ( what with 30 yrs of war and horrific injuries.) and none of them would consider surgery until she was older. I had no counselling, no-one to talk to, not even family living near. For 4 yrs she literally lived in my pocket - no babysitters - just my husband and one close friend. That was the way I coped and it was hard But I'm glad. She is having her surgery shortly. She's in consultation with her surgeon - I have little input - and she's happy with it. I'm glad I wasn't given a choice back then. I don't know what I would have done. She has always known she is different but somehow, thank God, it has never bothered her.She is a pretty, well-adjusted young lady!
