Julie HOne would think that these guys would see a problem when they just measure the height from a few appointments. Surely a few corresponding dots on a chart indicate that the growth has been too rapid and something is not right? I fight to get three monthly bloods done here! If it was up to my son's doctor, he'd only do them 6 monthly. It takes three weeks for the results to come back from the blood tests and even then, if I do not ring and ask for the results, they sit in my sons file and are not acted upon as your are for three months until our nest appointment! (Australasia!!) It is only since I have educated myself that I am asking for them and that is only the last three months. My philosphy is, why go to these exotic and expensive blood tests if your not going to act upon the results and do as is intended---adjust their meds asap? In the last 12 months I have had this guy blame a bad batch of tablets and then he said non-compliance before he would even look at the fact that the testing had simply not been often enough to pick up a problem. Hence a mountain happened to accumulate where a simple mole hill may have needed to! Then he just checks for 17 OHP 11 months apart and wonders why these problems were not picked up?!?!? I did mention BO but this guy thought that that was normal! So, here I am now making complaints left right and centre (you cannot sue doctors here!) but people look at me like I am a fussy over reactive parent simply because they don't know how things should be done.
I just want someone to pass an International Standards Protocol for these patients with CAH then I can have it put on my son's hospital filI feel that is the only way that there will be an improvement.
