Julie HInitially when the doctor diagnosed the asthma he only scripted us the blue inhaler (respolin) but this did not work very well. I think it may have if ha had not been so under suppressed, but our family GP was not to know that and perhaps didn't want to script the brown Respocort) inhaler because he may have assumed that my son was getting all he needed in the daily dose. In years before that, we never had a problem with asthma at all. Anyhow a week or two later we had to go back and get the other inhaler. This worked within days. This year his asthma is not as bad--but he has had massive doses of dex prior to the season where he previously had the asthma last year. I'm assuming that this has helped not only to address hormone levels (we hope)but has also suppressed the asthma. We have had coughs and splutters this week and I am wondering if since we came off the dex and onto a low dose of hydrocortisone now, if that is a sign things are not right? We go for blood tests this week, and we are on the respolin and respocort. I was concerned that we are using them and his normal dose and that that is not going to give us an accurate result. I'll discuss it with his Paediatrician.
