Betsy's CAH and bonding
10/3/01 11:42 AM

I stopped posting here a while back over the surgery subject. I did it for the same reasons as Kaye said but from the other side of the arguement. While Betsy's original post (cah and Bonding) hit a nerve with some, it eased my mind. It is nice to hear an adult say that they know their mother would have loved them no matter what their genitals looked like. I have a lot of guilt over my decision and that post helped let go of some of it. Thanks

I thought I made the right decision for the surgery. But I am not the one who did the surgery. The outcome was simply "nerves cut". Simple as that. Just a simple fact and not opinion.

The "reasons" for or against surgery may vary but the surgery and the nerves it either cuts or doesn't cut will be the facts.

I have heard those who say only the severely virilized should be operated on. While the "reasons" may be obvious to many, I am wondering if those will have the worst outcomes due to the increased amount of cutting needed. The more you cut the more you damage nerves. This is just something I am wondering but not stating as a fact.

As Aimee said I hope the best for all of your daughters and hope their surgery proves to be successful But if it doesn't then you will know that they are not alone.

I really hope the best for everyone. And someday peace to all.
