Re: Very real danger...

What I also wondered here was since when kids are undersuppressed it affects their bones in the way of rapid growth--do you suppose that calcium would be retained much more than it should be because I am aware that side effects of this are kidney stones and the likes.  I am just wondering these things as you would as my son has been at two very excessive extremes in the last few years.  He was over dosed at one point and it caused growth to stop and then be very slow but no one did anything until he grew into the dose.  Every time that I complained I just got the excuse that it was best to be over suppressed than run the risk of becoming under suppressed and that one could reverse the former but not the latter!  Then they cut back too much and left it and due to lack of tests and my ignorance at the time he became very undersuppressed.  So thinking about calcium and the ability for it to be retained or not retained as made me wonder about under suppression and whether "if" I had been giving him supplements at that time, they would have caused a problem?  I've been researching it and wondered also if that in itself can affect the potassium levels.  Sometimes you need something else to retain and absorb other minerals and it stands to reason that lack of or too much of something will cause a problem.  I don't mean to worry anyone, I am just trying to advocate for more frequent and regular checks on these kids as my child has had tests every 6 months at one point.  Not my choice but the Paed's choice.  Now I would argue---also I think they need "all" the blood tests "all " of the time especially to analyze things like this.
