Danny CarltonLong before I had kids, long before I was even married, I found a book on reflexology. It sounded interesting, and I read it. I wondered if there was anything to it when one day we were visiting relatives and my cousin's wife was complaining of a splitting headache. I asked her to take her shoe off. She looked at me like I was crazy, but she did, and I rubbed the spot suggested in the book for relieving headaches. She looked around in surprise and said, "How'd you do that!! My headache's completely gone!!"
Since then I've tested the various aspects of reflexology with success each time. A boss with a strained back was given temporary relief (his chiropractor frown when he told him how he was able to tolerate the pain until his appointment). My wife's back strain due to scoliosis relieved. And recently my mechanics headache vanished after usng the technique on his hand (didn't figure I'd get him to take his shoe and sock off) "Huh," he grunted after I pressed the correct spot a few times, one eyebrow raised, with a look of mild disbelief, "worked." (a man of few words, but a great mechanic)
I also use it on my two kids with CAH. The spot for the adrenal glands (23 on the chart below) is almost always tender on their feet, yet rarely tender on any of the rest of the family's feet. The idea is to rub the spot firmly but gently, about 10 times with your thumb. If it hurt with just a gentle rub, then it's definitely a trouble spot. Usually doing this once takes care of temporary maladies (headaches etc.). Once a day takes care of chronic problems (back pain etc.).
I'd be really interested in hearing the results if anyone tries this. Difference in tenderness of the spot for the adrenal gland in both CAH and non-CAH family members. Difference in general CAH related symptoms (salt craving, moodiness, etc.)
