RachelWell, I disagree. The posts directed to Kaye regarding her decision to have the surgery were antagonistic in my opinion. It is insulting to her intelligence to assume that that she didn't consider the pros and cons before she came to her decision to go ahead with the surgery for her daughter. I don't recall her asking for opinions, her decision had already been made. It's the same thing every time the subject of surgery comes up on this board. Those of us that had surgery for our daughters are portrayed as permanently maiming them. My daughter had two surgeries, at the age of 1 year and the next at age 2 and a half. Her surgeon was excellent and she looks wonderful. You truly have to look very closely to see any scarring at all. She can now urinate like the little girl that she is. She isn't in the hospital constantly with urinary tract infections. We don't have any doubts at all that we made the right decision for her. When something is broke, you fix it. If she had a malformed arm and surgery would make it look the way it was supposed to, we would have the surgery. The same thing for any other part of her body, it's no different. I don't condemn those who choose not to have the surgeries for their daughters, but at the same time I tire of the negativity directed at those of us who did opt to have the surgery for our daughters.
