Amy-JoDear Concerned Mom -
Not a stupid question at all, and you are exactly right, a person's gender is determined by chromosomes. At birth my now 10.5 month old daughter was termed "ambiguous sex" - that still makes my blood boil. At 6 months old it was determined that she in fact DOES NOT have CAH (I still come to this board to learn). She had an enlarged clitoris at birth and the screening at birth indicated possible CAH so they wouldn't tell us if she was a girl or boy! When the endo caught wind of that he blew up. They did a chromosome test on her, more for the state, Minnesota requires it with CAH kids. How lame is that? AMBIGUOUS SEX in huge letters is the first thing in her medical chart. I have to get that changed. Good luck to you and your dear daughter.
