While engorgement can happen I felt it was better to have too muck milk for my baby than not enough. And if your baby is hungry and frustrated for lack of milk than she will not suck to up your production as much as you are saying she could eat, hence the need for pumping. I would also drink Mother's Milk tea by Traditional Medicinals, organic. You need to let it steep covered for 15 minutes and drink it 3 times a day. The main ingredient that helps lactation is fenugreek. It's easier to take as capsules. The directions say "take two capsules, 2 to 4 times a day with meals or a glass of water". This is what I did to get my milk production going and it worked. I never had a problem with over engorgement because after the jump start of pumping after every feeding for a few days I cut way back to just pumping once a day. Good luck!
