Re: I wonder what if we replaced the word intersexed with corrective sugery...

What if we gave up or felt it useless, to try to get the medical profession to change it's protocol on corrective surgery?  The defense could be the same that you offer for changing the use of intersexed with CAH:

...and you are banging your head against a brick wall in trying to get them changed. Energies would be better spent on other issues.

...rather than stirring up a rat's nest over something that no one on this board can do anything about anyway

How about even saying that they are the doctors and they "should know" what is best for a child, whether it be having surgery or labeling girls intersexed.  Hell, they are the ones with the medical degrees right, so they "should know".  Do you see a problem with this way of thinking???

Point being, instead of sarcastically "offering help" (really ladies, was that necessary?) on a subject that is obviously not important to you, but important to others, think of where we would be if we all thought that way about corrective surgery.  For instance neither topic directly effects myself, I have a son with CAH.  But, I still "get it", I hear the pain that has been so clearly voiced by many CAH women and parents of CAH girls.  I will therefore be part of the crusuade to eliminate the use of "intersexed" with CAH.  As, I will too be right behind those in fighting the uphill battle against unecessary corrective surgery.

Peace...
