Julie HI have been wondering for some time about how the cortisone replacement affects guys fertility in adulthood. I automatically assumed that with higher androgens (under suppressed ) that this would perhaps increase sex drive and fertility. I've heard of people on message board (LOCAH) speak of the higher sex drive 'before' they were diagnosed and there is obviously a link there where that is concerned. After reading that I naturally was wondering what happens when these men are over suppressed? You hear a lot about how this condition affect a womans fertility, but not a great deal about an adult males fertility. But it only stands to reason that sometimes too much cortisol would affect the level of androgens wouldn't it or testosterone. Also, wouldn't it have some detrimental affect on the sperm when an adult male is on too high a dose? I note from reading about some adults that they take their meds differently from day to day, that they have dex and then they have hydrocortisone. Has anyone else had these thoughts and of so have you turned up anything at all?
Also, my sons genitals seem to have enlarged some in the past few months and they just don't look right in proportion to the rest of him now. The hair on the testicles is changing from the fine downy hair it was and seems to be taking on a coarser appearance. Would being under suppressed bring on a premature production of sperm? (Sorry, I am just curious and wondering these things naturally) or would it affect him in the opposite way?
