Re: Cortef Suspension Recall

Hi Julie,

My son is on the hydrocortison suspension. My pharmacy prepares it. According to the pharmacy it needs to be refrigerated because it doesn't contain a stabilizer. It is only good for about 30 days. My son was put on it because the Dr. wanted to increase his cortef by just a little bit was not sure that splitting a small pill in fourths was a good idea. This way she could just increase it by very little and make sure that he gets the right amount. The Dr. prepared an instruction sheet for the pharmacy to follow in making the liquid. I get it refilled about every 20-25 days. I don't want to take a chance that it will not be effective. I will know how well it works in Dec.
