Re: extreme behaviors, anxiety, depression, mood swings with CAH

Unfortunately, this is a case of an endo not not being able to handle the situation and just putting his head in the sand.  What was your sons dosage level and regime when he changed back to cortef from dex?

It is vital that any endo treating a CAH child has had training under a consultant who deals with CAH at major childrens hospitals.  Your experience is most CAH parents worst nightmare.  I hope you can keep Dr Rivkees as your endo from now on and he discusses the errors made with your previous endo because he does not have a clue about CAH be it physiological or psychological.  Him blowing you off abou the pubic hair  is just too scary.  I  am glad Andrew is back to his usual self and I hope is management is back to where it should soon.

You can check his HC levels are in the correct range by going to this site: http://www.halls.md/body-surface-area/bsa.htm  For my son I put in 88lbs, 137cm. Option three needs to be worked backwards because you know what your sons dose is now.  The m2 should fall into a range of 14-20. For Liam I know he is on 20mg/day  and I entered a few figures around 16 before getting 16.25m2 for his dosage of 20mg.  His dosage level has be the same for 4.5/5 years now which ment that his m2 level back then was over twenty.  He is doing great at the 16.25m2 range now so you ask the question, why was his levels always so high when they did not need to be 4.5 years ago?  Each child has to be an individual in the endo's mind and not a text book example.
