For the saltwasting classical CAH - it is important not to be the medication and it is important to have the 17-OHP done between 6 am and 8am because of the surge in hormones. I do not agree with the doctor that say it does not matter. There is no way you can "account" for a hormonal surge.

I also do not agree with a doctor that says to give the cortef or florinef any time of the day either because of the hormonal surges. It is important to keep to the schedule so that the cortef is there when it is needed during the surges and cortef is short lasting.  Short lasting so during a infection the cortef is needed every 6 hours and not 8 hours of the child can go into adrenal shock.
