Re: Potty Training

Hi Janet!  I have a 2 1/2 year old, (closer to three) who is not yet potty trained.  She does not have CAH but I wanted to respond to tell you that not every kid potty trains easy or early.  I just plum gave up on trying after my newest addition was born, female with CAH.  As you could imagine, our household was turned topsy turvy for awhile and regression set in for big sister.  I just said to myself (jokingly of course), I don't care if she stays in diapers until she is eight.  Eventually she will realize she is the only kid in school still in diapers.  Once I stopped focusing on the potty, suddenly, (within the last two weeks) she started asking to wear underwear and she comes and tells me when she has to go.  We are not fully trained as of yet, and we still have accidents in the underwear, but after an accident, I praise her for going for so long in them, for asking to potty and going, and then I tell her we will try again later.  At that point she goes back in a diaper, and eventually she comes to me and asks to try the underwear thing again.  So, I suppose the moral of the story is: she will train in her own due time!  Yesterday was the very first time ever I got Texas gold in the toilet!  I almost cried! (smile).  God Bless, Kaye
