My son as an infant was on 2 tablets a day of florinef and it still did not change his renin levels, his blood pressure was sky rocketing and he was extremely irritable. I remember going to get some intense (it might have been barium) test to rule out kidney problems, it was very stressful for the boys with IV's not going in and to tell the truth it was so long ago I have frogotten the details.

 

BUT...... I do remeber my Dr calling Dr New and she said don't worry about renin levels  because the BP is so high worry more about that, and the other levels of CAH. and it is true that extra hydrocrortisone does "help" with the salt wasting, and does somewhat take the place of Florinef. When we have to do the shot I don't have to give florinef.

I hope this helps, PS as soon as they lowered his florinef he was a differnet less cranky baby.
