Several years ago a nurse in a hospital here in Tulsa decided to warm the blood before a transfusion and stuck it in the microwave a few minutes. Needless to say the patient died of sudden, massive toxic shock.

The nurse was fired, and criminal charges were brought (I can't remember the outcome) but the hospital was sued, big time. I was just mentioning that to the home health care nurse and she said she remembered it and wasn't all that surprised that a nurse could be that stupid, she'd seen plenty of that type graduating nursing school.
