Was she SWCAH in the severe sense or was he diagnosis delayed. If it was the latter then the child would take a great deal longer to become sick wouldn't they? Can they not compromise and do the test before you leave hopsital which is generally the third to fifith day sometimes (if your not like me and clamering to get out the day after!). Or maybe they could move a little faster here on the actual work that goes on after the heel prick. I know that 7 days would have been too late and I knew what I was looking for second time around if anything was wrong, but first time parents do not know these things. Maybe the testings should be extended to babies dying soon after birth around the one and two weeks mark up to a certain cut off point, and especially if their fluids intake was poor or they had diahorea etc. That way they can rule out CAH for future children that that couple may have.Val
