I don't have time to read all of the replies to your post but quickly wanted to tell you that I hope Ginny is feeling better.  2 summers ago Ellie was septic from an ear infection and it spread to the bones in her face.  They sent her home with IV antibiotics as well. (No- you're right that is no fun!)  What did they send Ginny home on?  Ellie experienced this twice.  Once they sent her home on rocephin and the 2nd time on vancomycin.  As I recall, we could take these meds out of the refrigerator (and they recommended we do) 30 to 45 minutes before injection.  They were both mixed with lidocaine to help reduce the pain of the injection.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.  Praying for a speedy recovery.
