We had similar problems with the UpJohn brand of Cortef Suspension. For quite a while my son was in very bad control (between around 3 and 5 years) - very undersurpressed, and then when he was switched to pills, very over-surpressed. I was told that the reason we had so many problems with the suspension was because UpJohn switched from a natural ingredient (which they could only get in some rain forest, and was the reason for the shortage about 3-4 years ago), to a synthetic suspension agent that didn't do what it was supposed to do. Once my kids got switched to the pills, and we switched to a new endo who looks at each child individually (instead of a clinic where they want them to fit into some sort of "normal" range), they have been doing great. I know for newborns the suspension worked good (when it worked), but right now I too am a little gun shy when it comes to using it. At least with the pills I know they are getting their medicaiton.
