Jill HI do think that many babies born with CAH are diagnosed with SIDS when they die.
Our son was 5 weeks old when we took him to the hospital (we had just had him to the doctors three days before) and he was diagnosed with CAH. The doctor told us that if we would have taken him home that night he would have most likley died in his sleep.
That made me think then that we would have never known anything about CAH as it would have just been ruled a sids death and left at that.
As for what was said about waiting for results of a heel stick test that takes many days and isn't even done until the baby is five days old. Ask you endo for a lab slip for a cord blood 17 OHP.
Our last baby we had a lab order in my doctors file and when we went to the hospital I reminded him about the cord blood test. They took a sample of the blood and we got the results a week later.
Since this disorder is in your family there shouldn't be any problem with doing this. I have an order at our doctors now for the baby that is due in April.
