SandraHi Val,
I read your post and I wanted to share something I recently learned. I used to use antibacterial stuff anytime I could. I filled my house with it. I used the gels etc... until I read an article that really made sense. The article said that in the U.S. it was getting very popular to use everything antibacterial but that in reality we were doing more harm than good because we are in essence building a supergerm! If you think about it, it does make sense. The same thing is true for overused antibiotics. The article went on to say that good old soap and hot water was sufficient to clean. Also, the proper way to have kids wash their hands is to have them sing a song while they lather so they don't just get their hands wet and then dry off. My kids usually sing happy birthday.
You can't do much about the bugs that are in the air or those that they catch while out of your supervision like at a daycare or school. Luckily for me, I don't have to work so Jackson, my CAH son, doesn't have to be in a daycare setting.
I hope this was useful information for you.
