That is what happened to my hands. When you do that too much you remove the acid mantle (which portects the skin from germs and keeps the skin supple) so I ended up with dermatitis. At the time I was also working full-time in a Hair Salon too and the constanct hair washing and messing with the perm solutions and chemicals did not help. I had to buy a special soapless hand washing cream and put barrier cream on to help to prevent it. In addtion when your changing several nappies a day and then cleaning with household chemicals it all adds up. My hands used to itch and itch and took a long time to come right. It did eventually go and I never use anti-bacterial stuff now. I heard that in addition to nasty germs there are friendly bacteria that we need on the skin and that we kill those off when we use anti bacterial and therfore leave ourselves wide open for the nasties.Val
