Diet ...I posted about this on the LOCAH board , maybe of some interest here ?

I'm convinced that people with CAH in general are so much better off following a certain type of diet ( more fish, chicken, lots of veggies, and small amounts of fruit.) Also, I believe we are at an advantage when we follow a consistant exercise routine. I always feel so much better emotonally after exercise.

I look at it this way, I was born with CAH and that is a fact that I can't change. What I can do is give my body a little help by what I eat and how much I exercise. The 7.5mg/ day of prednisone needs all the help it can get.

I have a story about over supression. When I was 18, I told the Endo how much having extra hair bothered me. So, she doubled the dose of prednisone that I was taking. The extra hair growth never changed but I did manage to put on 50 pounds in a very short amount of time. I never went back to that doctor because I moved out of state. My new doctor brought down the dose to its original amount. I eventually lost all that weight and the extra hair that I do have got finer with age, it was never like hair on a man. I have no more extra hair then some women of certain ethnic groups that do not have CAH.

Sincerely,

Aimee
