AimeeHello All:
I take cortisone / doctor's orders as 7.5mgs of prednisone. He recommends that I take the 2.5 ( the half) in the morning. Which is either at 5:30 a.m. during the week or at 11:00 a.m. when I don't have to work. At night I try to take the 5mg no later than 10:30 p.m. but my doctor said as long as I take it before bedtime, I'm ok. He never gave a certain time to take the pred. just as long as it was before bedtime or after I woke up.
I've been reading the medication doses threads. It's very interesting. I've always wondered why I can't take the smaller dose of pred at night and the larger dose in the morning. It seems to me that the larger dose is a waste at night and it would be better to take that in the morning. Well, something to ask him about at my next visit.
As for diet, this is nothing more than own hunch based on how I feel. After being on prednisone, I've found that a steady diet of red meat was hard to digest. It made me nauseated (sp?) so I started trading more fish and chicken for meat, the stomach problems lessened. I still eat some meat but not as much. The pot roast that comes out of Mom's crock pot is yummy.
Someone on the LOCAH board mentioned that they followed a diet loosely based on what diabetics eat and she said that she felt better. I do feel that we have to watch our suger intake and I could be wrong about all of this. Large amounts of certain fruit, along with pasta covert to sugar rapidly. I feel that has an effect on the way that I feel. I also drink as much water as I can in a day. For some reason I feel more alert when I do this.
Take Care,
Aimee
