How you handled a stomach flu/ vomiting episode survey....

I am begining to get nervous. A lot of kids in my area are getting the stomach flu. (vomiting with diarrhea) for about 24 hours. My daughter is 4 and is a salt waster (her CAH deficiency is 21 hydroxlase). We have had a couple of vomitting episodes before but nothing crazy and she has handled it well with triple doses of oral Cortef. No vomitting continued after that dose. She responded great with even eating after a few hours. Of course I would have injected her with Solu-Cortef is she did not respond. (got lethargic ect.) and taken her to the E.R. But this stomach flu going around seems to last 24 hours of barfing. Dangerous to a CAH child let alone one that is a salt waster. I would first like to know:

1. Your child's age (when the stomach flu bug occured you are describing)

2. Your child's CAH deficiency. (is he or she a salt waster, and is he or she's type diagnosed as late onset CAH ect.)

3. A brief description of what you did in this situation of the 24 hour stomach flu. (did you go to the E.R.?, did you inject Solu-Cortef, ect.)

4. Did a fever accompany this vomitting?

I know ALL CAH children react differently to viruses. Some are over suppressed, some are under surpressed. I know someone that has two daughters with CAH. One of their girls seems to do terrible with fevers and fine with a vomitting episode and the other does fine with fevers and terrible with vomitting. Both having the same type of CAH. I know this is not the "Bible" of treating our CAH children, but I do like to do a mini survey to see how every one got through this type of virus. I have a call into my endo. and pediatrician just to review our plan of action. I am so crazy with plans. But this is my only way I calm myself with the threat of this 24 hour vomitting virus. I did get to talk with my ped. and she said she is going to order me a glucose tester. I told her of my concerns with the low sugar that seems to become a problem the next day. (ie: Wendy Lee had mentioned that her daughter had extremely low blood sugar that needed medical attention the next day after her daughter vomitted. Yet she was not dehydrated. (am I right Wendy Lee?) Someone else mentioned their son had the same problem. So my ped. thought this would glucose tester kit would help in this kind of situation.

I also want to know how many of you that found after you injected the Solu-Cortef, your child's vomitting stopped completely?

I sure wish we had a manual that was so easy to follow. Like if "A" occurs, you do this. This CAH is so tricky. My endo. has referred to treating CAH as a endocrinologist as a trade. He says he does not treat two patients alike. They grow at different rates ect. So frustrating sometimes. So if anyone could give their two cents I would appreciate the input.

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!
