Re: How you handled a stomach flu/ vomiting episode survey....

We have a 3 1/2 yr old son with SW CAH. He has had the flu 3 times now.

1) He was 9 months old. Vomitted once. I was terrified - paged his endo. She asked how he was doing. I said lethargic. She said inject him with Solucortef. We live <10 min.s from a large Children's Hosp. I was nervous abouting injecting him for the first time (This was all so new to me and I am one of those people who doesn't even like to take aspirin). We rushed down to the Hosp. By the time we got there he had perked up and was excited to play with all the waiting room toys (Great!) We had to drag him back to the room. I injected him. It went fine. He never vomitted again. He was up for most of the night. Whenever we inject him, or even double, he barely sleeps for a day or two.

2) He was 20 months old. Vomitted once. Seemed ok. We gave him a triple dose. He vomitted again. We injected. He never vomitted again. He was fine a few hours later - running around and playing.

3) He was almost 3 1/2. He vomitted once. We injected. He was up and running around in an hour or so. Begged for food within two hours. Seemed a little haggard the following day but never vomitted again.

He had only a slight fever each time. One time he had diahhrea (?sp)

Hope this helps.
