KathrynTwin salt wasting boys 10
We have had the stomach flu every winter. I ALWAYS give an injection. Please remember that even though they throw up once and they keep their meds down sommetimmes the stomach does not metabolize the meds they just sit there and not get absorbed, just like they NEVER got it.
When Andrew was 2 he vomitted all day and I was nervous we took him to the Dr and he did blood work and he was very surprised that his salt levels were fine, they hate pedilyte, I do gatorade,(PS I always travel with the powdered version). The Dr gave him phansador, sorry about the spelling and that helped the vomitting, but for samll children becareful because it is an opiate.
Also it is very important to have tylenol suppositories in the refige, as a parent you'll only need it at 2AM.
Now they are older I am very comfortable about giving the shot, going to the hospital it seems here they keep you for hours! My doctor feels comfortable with me giving 2 series of shots(every 6 hrs) and calling him at every shot to let him know how they are doing, after 2 shots then he gets concerned about dehydration.
Hope this helps!
