Ive been practising on a lemon, but even that is not like the real thing. I was practising just jabbing in a dart like motion, but it either goes in too far or not far enough and I do not suppose a kid would be terribly appreciative of me shoving it in further after underestimiating the force or pressure that I need to use to break the surface tension of the skin and get it exactly where it needs to be! I think it is like you say Valerie, after the first time I have done it, I guess I will know just the right amount of pressure to use to jab in, but not too far that I hit the bone---lol! The nurse yesterday taught me to pinch the muscle on the outer thrid of the thigh and they gave me two sheets (laminated!oooOOOOooooOOOO!!) with all the instructions to have with me in an emergency. One has the instructions for loading the stuff into the bung and the other sheet has instructions on how to jab. I have no sterile wipes though so will have to go and get those. Only have two vials for an emergency and one repeat of the script that they gave. The expiry date is April 2006 (which is quite a way off). A surprise to me as I thought that they expired way before that. When you are travelling in a car and it is hot, can you put them in a coolie bin? I think I may just inject 50mg in an emergency and just get to the hospital. Once I have done that any number of times, I may be able to consider doing it when he starts to vomit like we did at the doctors weekend before last. Chloe is 12---going on 16 apparently! She turns 13 on the 13th march. Way ahead of me---hit puberty some time ago and had her first period 2 -3 months ago though it is not regular as yet. She has been mostly very quiet of late and spends a lot of time in her own room---that is why we did not notice her missing for some time. it is not unusual for her to be in there for hours without a sound really. I guess she is growing up, although I thought that I had a few years yet before the boys thing started---being that I was 13-14 before I ever was interested in the opposite sex. Mostly boys made me puke before then and were quite gross in my opinion! I was also very shy to---so even when I did finally become interested, being so painfully shy, it took a LONG time before anything eventuated. Like 4 years kind of LONG! She must be a little more advanced!!! Seems the be the way these days. They all seem to hit puberty slightly earlier. Though I remember a boy 6 ft tall in our class called Danny Pendlebury whom hit puberty way before every other boy and he had stubble and a moustache!!! If ever there was a prime candidate for premature puberty it had to be him. All the kids in the class called him "Desperate Dan " after the character in the Beano comics. LOL! Going back down memory lane there a little while---back to the present time, I think really the only thing I can do now is be glad that I am aware how she has changed the last year, and not just physically, I mean in every other way too. Hopefully she will settle down before she goes to the other school in January. Is your daughter interested in boys?Val
