Re: To Carol, Sandra et al (ignore that other one--typo's) read this one

Is Dr Su one of Dr New's team? When doctors work together, isn't it the case that they work along the same philosophies as the one they are under and basically for fear of treading on the boss's toes's half the time? For example Sandra says she e-mailed Dr Su but at the end of the day Dr Su can only advise what her BOSS would advise and seems to sound pretty much like Maria New in her philosophies and the way that she treats kids with CAH as she is condoning the twice a day dosing. I mean personally, it sound to me like if you had an Endo that couldn't calculate and then you took your child to Maria New, according to the mistakes she made with your Nick's doses et al, it would be like jumping from the "Frying Pan" into the fire so to speak surely? Basically in this thread it would seem that most parents are actually talking about taking ultimate control over where to dose and how much to dose when it comes time to raise th doses, and being pro-active as a separate issue from what an Endo would "normally" do within their restrictive philosophies. That means doing this freely and independant of the Endo, NOT doing as the Endo recommends---which if you have Dr New as a doctor doesn't seem to me to be the case. Sounds like you have to do as she says, or take your care "elsewhere!" I've so far heard four stories about Maria New. Two are involving miscalculation of dose, one of dosing regime and it seems to me somewhere she isn't listening to paitents parents. This is serious stuff here! Under dosing is not just premature puberty causing! It can leave a child wide open for adrenal crisis at ANYTIME especially with infections or illness! In my estimation when I first came to all this I had the impression that Maria New was such an expert in CAH that she was able to not only prove things scientifically, but that she was able to treat CAH successfully. Our Doctor was impressive too! Nowadays I see flaws in most experts way of treating CAH and it frutrates the #@*% out of me. Even Hindmarsh and Brooke according to kathy (though they have come up with this beaut of a dosing regime) seem to approve of twice daily dosing. I think I am beginning to doubt that I will ever meet an Endo that can actually answer questions "honestly" and do things that are truly for the well being of my child. The best Doctors in my estimations are the ones that can admit to their mistakes and change what they are doing for the better. Not those that cover their a##'# or bluff their way through your questions after they made them. (I mean look at the reputation they get by doing so!) If the treatment of CAH is such an acceptably variable thing (and that in itself is acceptable legally) then why do they a.) feel the need to cover their butt's in the first place and b.) all feel it is ok to give parents different answers to the same questions "without" it confusing the #@!* out of parents! Surely, they are supposed to be just "legally" treating the kids in their individual ways? When you have confidence in what you are doing as a Doctor, it does not involve making excuses up or hiding the real answers to reasonable questions that parents have. If I go quiet, its cos we have a works Christmas do tonight and I am going to get drunk and drown my sorrows---LOL! I NEED IT with all this!
