TeriMy granddaughter was diagnosed earlier this year with CAH. She turned 8 years old in May. In April she was started on Prednisone 5 mg tab 1/2 twice a day. As of October, Florinef 0.1 mg tab 1/2 was added. Since she was started on the Prednisone, she has gained 11 pounds and has developed a moon face. Also she has developed hair on her upper arms and back. The Pediatric Endo and the Pediatrician both say the excess hair is a side effect of the Prednisone and don't seem concerned since her labs are good. Has anyone on the board seen excess hair as a side effect of medication? If she is over suppressed, will the hair disappear, if the oversuppression is reduced? It seems that medication was started to prevent the effects of excession Androgen, but the Prednisone is causing some of the same symptoms. What do you think?
