AimeeHello Everyone,
I've been on Prednisone roughly my whole life, not including the firsts couple of years that I took hydrocortisone.
When I was growing up I can't recall ever having hair on my back or upper arms. There was a short period of time that I did have hair growing on the south side of my belly button but that stopped on its own completely.
The hair on my face has always been downey and fine. When I was younger it was a little darker then now. The hair on the lower part of my arms weird enough had a thicker amount of hair on them when I was younger. Now, my friends from Spain and Italy have more hair on their body then I do.
What I also wanted to bring up is that when I was younger, kids would tease me about the hair that I did have. I was called " Bear" and " Wokey " ( the hairy creature from Star Wars ) by the more creative kids. One guy enjoyed calling me " Beard Woman " My point is that eventually I stopped wanting to go to school ( ok...I also skipped a lot, without my parents permission ) because the teasing made me feel so bad. I couldn't tell a teacher or my parents because I was embarased to tell an adult about the real reason they were teasing me. This all started when I was around nine. It made social situations a drag in Jr. and Senior High School and my school work suffered for it . Like Teri said in her letter, " the doctors aren't to concerned about it." Those doctors would be concerned, if they were the ones that got teased about it every day.
Even though I take roughly the same amount of prednisone as when I was in my teens, my weight eventually evened out to 128 for a 5' 1" frame. The more I exercised, the more my hunger for food decreased.
Sincerely,
Aimee
