Real quick question

Hi All, We are getting ready for our trip and I am soooo stressed out!! I am stressed out because Jackson has his first ear infection. He is handling it very well considering the fever and the infection. He just started his antibiotics today and I have been doubling his meds. What really upsets me the most is that I had asked our endo here last week about an emergency letter for Jackson. She said that she would get it to me before we left but still no letter! I called today and the nurse called me back and said that she didn't have an emergency letter but had a letter that she wrote to my pediatrician. She read it to me and faxed me a copy. I was upset because in the letter she wrote that the 17ohp/androstenedione and renin were pending but that the rest were Na137,K 4.9 , Chloride 104 and Co2 at 17. She then wrote and I quote " These results are remarkable for a low Co2. Until the results of the renin are available I propose to restart Jackson on Florinef. In addition I would like the lytes to be repeated on Monday and forwarded to us."  I asked the nurse what the Dr. meant by remarkable. She didn't know. I asked to have her call me but I doubt she will.  I called the ped endo on call in NY and they called me right back. I barely had time to hang up the phone. I talked to one of the drs. I had seen there and she said that the Co2 was low and meant that he could be a little dehydrated but that everything else was fine. I faxed  her the letter and she was going to check with Dr. New and call me in the morning.

Since I am really cramped for time, I wanted to know if any of you had any experience with Co2 and what the values should be. I would research it now but I would probably spend hours and I want to get some sleep!

Thanks for any info.

Sandra
