ValSame here. I cook everything to death. But I have been out for meals and asked for a medium to well done steak and it has been served lightly toated on the outside and I have cut into it and blood ran out! I kid you not, a good vet could have brought it back to life! That was in the North of France in St Malo and I asked them to take it back and cook it a little more and they thought I was complaining and got quite shirty. Then later he asked in Fremch if I had enjoyed the meal---but the accent was so wierd with it I I guessed he was asking me if I would like dessert and I said "No." Of course he looked at me like I was being rude and then stormed off. We sat there puzzled at his attitude and were trying to figure out what the problem was and the chef came out and started talking to me in French. (We did not speak much French---least not with the Normandy accent anyhow---so the situation didn't get any better. All I could make out was a bottle of wine cost nothing at the end of it and that must have been a token gesture. They did not speak one word of English and we spoke pigeon french and it was quite frustrating. Never again!
Next time will expand on my French language!
Everytime we have takeaways one of us as problems. I have given up ---except for Mc Donalds which I we have rarely had a problem with.
It is also barbeque season here and sometimes other people cook things the same as above---lightly toasted and raw on the inside. There was a survey here some time ago that said that most people have tummy upsets from the salads and other stuff served at a barbeque though oddly enough! I am usually stood there over the barbeque and watching---lol---and putting my order in for a charcoaled steak! A bit crispy but at least I know anything that was on it is dead by the time I eat it!
