The problem is can they be split to 1.25mg any better than half of a 5mg tablet can be.  Depends on the shape and even then, you are only achieving the same as you would splitting 5mg's to 2.50mg and 1.25mg.  As of yet, I do not think that they make them anywhere.  Lozenges for mouth ulcers also tend to be made like lollies or sweets as they are designed to be sucked for a long period of time.  Unlike a tablet cake which is designed to breakdown asap and dissolve.  I do not think that pastels/lozenges would be a good idea.  besides the manufacturers here are going to make the 1mg pill roughly the same size as a 5mg pill with a + on it so that it indicates that it can be split to 00.25mg if necessary which is to my way of thinking a much better way for manufacturers to go.  That way, as soon as a baby is on solid food, they can go straight onto tablets and these can be dissolved like we use to do.  A much more snsible idea than elixir or suspension anyways as there is absolutely no margin for any degrading as there would be with suspension or elixir.  It's a pity they cannot do this with ALL potencies of steroids, irregardless as to what they feel is appropriate for treating these kids as dex and pred are often used Paediatrically also anyway for many reasons.  

The only thing we can do as parents is play an active role in pushing for these things.  These drugs have been around since the 1940's and it is high time it was sorted.  They push onto us that suspension is unstable and therefore they need to be looking at more viable solutions if this is the case.  Not precariously and crudely managing our kids on what is available where HCT is concerned, i.e. adult doses.  No one should have to really do this, but unfortunately, until the doctors do so, we just have to push for all that.  There is absolutely no reason why none of us can write to manufacturers.  When I wrote to Douglas here I felt I was banging my head against a brick wall and boy was I surprised when they wrote back and actually said they were "seriously" thinking about this!  Even went into how the pill will feel, look and what it will have on it in the way of lettring!!  Please write to the manufacturers and let them know how you feel and KEEP writing until someone sit's up and takes notes.
