Re: First trip to ER and hospital stay

Kimberly, Think of it this way, 2002 can only get better for you(:>)! We had a couple of 4 - 5 day stays at the hospital. They kept the IV in for most of that time. Don't be surprised if they keep hydrating him until the day you leave. Have you gotten a release date yet? They actually tried to send us home too early and I told them that Ryan wasn't himself yet. They said "well, his numbers look good". I told them that my son was very active and chatty. I asked if they could give him a little more fluids and an ice pop. Withing 20 minutes he was laughing, smiling and talking with all the doctors. One of the endos said "you sure know your son". We then got released. Make sure they don't send you on your way until YOU feel that your child is back to "normal". Only YOU know who your child is and how he should be behaving. Besides, staying an extra hour or two may just save you a trip back to the ER. Now you can pop open the champagne to celebrate your son's home coming. The kids can join in with a bit of the bubbly (sparkling apple cider)too! I hope you can all recover quickly from this. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
