ValI guess that what I was basically asking is, if we need these people on our side and we need their help, where will suing get us? For one, finances will not reversethe damage that has occured. I cannot understand why you plan to sue first and then would hope to even approach this company to make a 1mg pill. It just may not be condusive to helping the situation at all. I realise that many many children became irreversably damaged by the faulty batch of suspension--but it is inevitable with something like that and suspension being an unstable product anyway, that these things will eventually happen and nothing upon nothing will bring back the children lost or rectify the problem a child has thereafter unfortunately. Especially when it is one of the major manufacturers and suppliers of a very impprtant drug that we all rely upon. Doctors make mistakes with our children all the time. My child was over treated and then under treate grossly, but if I sued (that is IF I could sue) this would not exactly help the situation that we have with shortage of doctors here. They are understaffed as it is and CAH is such a difficult condtion to treat that I would be achieving nothing really. Far better that the endo learn by his mistakes ans know better next time. I have come to a place where I could forgive if they could re-instate the quality of testing---I do not need to sue anyone to feel happy that other children will benefit from now on by our experiences and our doctors. I would much prefer that he learn by the curve and still be around to provide better care. Much is the same for drug manufacturers. MOST drugs do not always do what they claim to do in the way that they should really. Always someone will have side effects I guess. In this case---you could look at it in a positive light and asee that it has paved the way for us to have tablets which are and always will have a better success rate where treating these kids is concerned and accuracy. I have been told that even Pharmacy made suspension cannot even be improved.
Lastly, I do not feel that it is the drug companies fault entirely. There should have been MORE notice paid by doctors at that time with the effectiveness. I mean to be instructed to shake a bottle 20 mins before you administer would have been the last straw for me. NO we were not on the board OR affetced, but we are now currently as we cannot in effect get a doctor to support closer dosing with suspension DUE to the UPJOHN problem Lynn. I think we have ALL been affected by this in the sense that my child should have been on it years ago and was not. yes it is ok for others to say--it is good he was not ---but look at the control OFF it. Nothing short of disastrous or JUST as frustrating if you really examine my past posts properly.
There are a few with CAH who may sue--but think about it. It isn't just CAH children that would have been using the product. there were possibly many.
I feel it is time to look constructive at what they can do to make up for the problems caused---but I do not think that we would be achieving that effectively if we sued. there may be drugs that THIS company make that are needed or innovative drugs that only THEY make---so would it really NOT matter if they went bust? If we search on line all day---we may find plenty of other places to find HCT, but what if they make some other drug that only THEY can make that treats something else that other children need?
I do not say this to in anyway devalue the children or parents affected by this either. Like I said, effectively we have ALL been affected and now we need to put it right in the RIGHT way.
