Both of my CAH boys had tons of ear infections, tubes for both of them, they were never "that sick" with just an ear infection. I would triple dose for the first day or so on the antibiotic, sometimes the first antibiotic would not work and they would get sicker before they got better, and then I would continue to triple dose. My advice also is to error, especially at night, on double or triple dose. I ran into trouble with both of my kids getting sicker at night and not doing well in the morning, both times the kids needed shots to get going again. You will get to know your child and get more experience as you go, but I would if you think he needs it give it, I really do believe that "mothers" know best. good luck, and it does get easier.
