AdinaHHi Sue!
I breastfeed with no formula. We were given liquid medications like you at first until the endocrinologist found out what they did at the hospital. He then switched us to the pills (5 mg tablets Cortef, and one pink florinef).
He said there was a nifty little device at Walgreens that would cut the pill in half and the other end would crush it. We have to cut her Cortef in fourths for the correct dosage and then we ordered some 1 ml oral syringes (very very thin and small) and we drop the 1/4 pill into the syringe and suck up the water into it and wait a few seconds and shake it to get it mixed in there and it's fine. We cut the florinef in half only so we can put it in the oral syringe, and then do the same; however, that one we used to just crush with the little device. Let me know if you need a 1 ml oral syringe. I had to order 500 of them for the hospital to put my order through. She has gotten used to them and they are not big and bulky like the toddler and child oral syringes so you don't loose the meds dripping out the end. The device at Walgreens is blue. Tell them you need a pill cutter and crusher. It also has a compartment you can store the pills in. If they don't know what you're talking about, then email me and and I'll mail it to you with the oral syringes if you want.
Remember how I was telling you that Savannah changed over time. I think it was due to coming off the suspension and onto the pills themselves because that's when we started to notice the changing (at two months). Hope that info helps a little.
Take Care,
Adina
