My son is 13 also and weight has been an issue since about 8.  The cortisone dose plays a big part in this.  We have had to watch his diet and make sure he is active.  Excersise plays a big part in the weight as well.  Nic is in a controlled study, at N.I.H. in Bethesda Maryland.  All the kids we have meet have a weight problem, the meds do not help.  My son has had very poor control all of his life.  He was a child who could never exsist on minumum doses.  So he  was always on the high end of the med. scale.  We live in Canada, Nova Scotia.  He has been going to Bethesda Maryland for about 5 years.  It has really helped with his control.  Feel free to e-mail me to talk.  I do try to check this board everday.  We just got on line in Jan.  so l find this site amazing.
