Hi Amber........My 3 kids and I live in Apopka, Florida, which is just north of Orlando about 15 minutes.  We have had several docs around the country throughout the years for my 2 salt wasters, including Johns Hopkins and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.  We are very happy with the docs here at Nemours Children's Clinic in Orlando.  They are also associated with Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children.  I have to say that Nemours is very well organized.....I get my papers beforehand and can do the labwork, office visit and bone age all in the same building on the same day-I had never experienced that before in anyother hospital-I was always shuffling off to radiology or outpatient labs.

As far as insurance, I am with Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Options, which is an HMO.  So far so good.  The out of pocket is minimal and as long as you have the right referral, everything is covered and all the Nemours docs are in network.  There is a program offered by the state of Florida called Children's Medical Services.  It provides and coordinates health care for chronically ill children. Although I don't really consider my 2 beautiful CAH children "chronically ill", this program does help when you are one of those families who may not be able to get insurance but makes too much to qualify for medicaid. 

I went to middle school , high school, and college here after my family moved me from New York when I was 12.  I swore when i got married and moved away, I would never come back here to live.  But after having lived in Dallas, Baltimore, Wilmington, all great cities I might add, I find life here is really laid back and great for the kids.  Plus with the population explosion central Florida has seen over the past decade or so, lots of great new schools are being built.  I don't know if you are planning a move to central Florida, but maybe this helps.  Good luck.
